"NOW HERE'S A MODEL FOR WORLD SPORT"
AWARD OF THE WEEK

Goes to Melbourne's well respected mainstream radio and TV commentators who this week in condemning the acts of violence emanating from Knights stadium in the aftermath of the Melbourne Knights and Perth Glory elimination final, curiously offered AFL football as the utopist model of sport harmony that the whole of world football should be learning from.

"We don't want our kids growing up throwing flames, belting up security guards and getting involved in racial violence," said one, in unconfirmed reports, "We at our AFL bankrolled radio station think that Aussie rules has just about got it right. Our fans only throw half-full cans of VB. Our players only brawl with nightclub security and our sport only racially vilifies Aboriginals. Surely other sports can learn a lot from us."

"OUR POLICY IS TO KEEP ALL CONFLICT OF INTEREST IN-HOUSE"
AWARD OF THE WEEK

Goes to the AFL who this week thoroughly bemused the Diegos by publicly airing its concern at what it regards as a possible conflict of interest by Richmond Football Club director and Chief executive of the Australian Soccer Players Union, Brendan Schwab who in his role as the latter, stated that it was his job to ensure that soccer is the career of choice for Australia's elite young athletes.

"In the AFL footy family we prefer to keep 'potential' conflicts of interest within AFL football. Catering rights, internet rights, TV rights, footy tipping rights, AFL backed and sacked Channel 7 and its soccer coverage, AFL commissioners and club presidents wearing different hats, Colonial stadium and which shaped ball is kicked on it; all very cozy and all very much in-house. What Brendan is doing is out of order. How dare he take his 'conflict' outside our sport?" said an unnamed AFL spokesman in wholly fabricated Four Diego reports.
