GOLDEN GRINGO AWARD WINNERS

PARRAMATTA POWER

"I'M A LUMBERJACK AND I'M OK…" AWARD OF THE WEEK

Goes to the Parramatta Power football club who last week decided that the best way of bringing closure to an otherwise tragic campaign was to go out to the back shed, sharpen the axe and start swinging indiscriminately.

The Power bosses at their axe wielding best, reacted savagely to two seasons of inept displays from their overrated playing list by embarking on the biggest front office clean out since Peter Costello went looking for the bloke who leaked the latest Liberal Party memo.

On the cost cutting exercise, an unnamed Power spokesperson was upbeat, "David Mitchell answers the phones, Stuart Munro does the photocopying and Laurie McKinna organizes the staff office Christmas party. Aside from an impasse on who is going to sleep with the boss, the rest is going really well," he said in unreliable reports.

'THE ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN AS PRINCE'
AWARD OF THE WEEK

Goes to the 'Team formerly known as Sydney United', the Parramatta Power.

The off season lock, stock and two smoking barrels wholesale transfer of all except one of the Sydney United players and coaching staff to new entity the Parramatta Power makes for Freudian slips aplenty.

Respected TV commentator, C7's boundary rider, Robert Wheatley continuously referred to the Power as Sydney United in last weeks opening round call against Marconi.

Don't worry Robbie, it could have been worse. You could have referred to them as being CASH STRAPPED.
