GOLDEN GRINGO AWARD WINNERS

WORLD CUP 2006

'WHEN HANSIE CRONJE'S BOOKMAKER TELLS YOU TO BET ON GERMANY, PUT THE HOUSE ON IT" AWARD OF THE WEEK

Goes to the bookmaker who gave South Africa's disgraced cricket captain Hansie Cronje over $7,000 and a leather jacket for pitch information, for being probably the only person in the world to tip that Germany was going to win the rights to the 2006 World cup before the vote.

"I can't tell you for sure but my gut tells me it's going to be Germany," declared

betting master, Marlon Aronstam.

How he managed to tip the unlikely German win is unclear but claims that a number of dodgy Pakistani bookmakers, together with Hansie Cronje, masquerading as bell boys, hotel cleaners and room service attendants at Charlie Dempsey's Zurich hotel on the eve of the vote is being investigated as we speak.
