I'm Excited but are we Ready for Melbourne Heart?

Let’s all admit that we are pretty excited about Version 6 of the A League and it’s all because of Melbourne Heart.

No matter who your allegiance is with, we cannot deny that the Heart have captured the imagination of every football and non football fan.

A true local derby is back on the cards for Melbourne and I’m excited. In the late 70’s Mark Hunter belted out the words “Are you old enough?” here in 2010 Jose Blue Vein Gorgonzola asks Melbourne “Are we big enough?”

Now I know the town is big enough to host two A-League teams, after all we are the sporting capital of Australia, but are we big enough to cope with the rivalry that will no doubt come with these two sides.

Up until now Melburnians have been spoilt by the lack of choice.

Two A-League championships, a wealth of talent coming and going, overall an easy supporter lifestyle. But now we have choice, and we know what everyone says. “Competition is good.” But is it?

Will the introduction of the Melbourne Heart see a perfect harmony for the football supporters? Will it bring the balance that has been missing in Versions 1-5? Time will certainly tell and as it should be the football supporters will have the final say.
