GOLDEN GRINGO AWARDS

CRYING

"QUICK PASS THE HANKIE AROUND" AWARD OF THE WEEK

Nominations are …

· Brazilian playboy 'The Night is My Friend', soccer star, Romario who shed a tear at a recent press conference when talking about his desire to play in the 2002 World Cup with Brazil…'I will do everything I can, from the possible to the impossible to earn the right to play,' he sobbed to a throng of local media.

Whether he is also ready to dedicate the next time he makes love to a nest of Brazilian beauties at his disco in the wee small hours prior to a big game to the cause is unknown however

· FIFA's under siege president, Sepp 'The Rat' Blatter who is currently getting standing ovations on his whirlwind 'pleading, sobbing and begging for votes' tour of Africa

· Players of Brazilian outfit, Pelotas who were accused of faking injuries on the weekend in an attempt to get their match against Atletico Mineiro abandoned. The referee apparently had enough of the tears when the Pelotas team was reduced to six men with 17 minutes to go.

Contrary to reports, Sheffield United manager, Neil Warnock was not present on the Pelotas' bench.

And the winner is …

· Brazilian 'If you cry there's a big chance of picking up more chicks and get into the Brazilian national team and the same time' soccer star, Romario.

Unfortunately Romario can't be with the Diegos to accept the award tonight. He apparently is much too upset to travel and he can't find anyone to look after his disco.
