Some Golden Soft Sombrero Moments with Danny Milosevic Milosevic on goalkeeping… Diegos: " People say you have to mad to be a goalkeeper - diving at the feet of loose cannon strikers and flinging yourself full stretch at piercing drives and then landing on an unforgiving turf…Danny are you mad? Milosevic: " I may not be mad yet but I'm getting there. In the last 15 years of my career l think I'm getting progressively more 'Il Loco' as you guys would put it. If you ask my teammates they would definitely say that I've gone mad already." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999
Diegos: " This season you returned home to play in Australia after a stint in Germany. Not many young talented Australians return home so early in their career. What was it about Perth Glory that convinced you that this was a good move for you?" Milosevic: " I hadn't initially planned to return home. I was keen to stay overseas longer but circumstances led me to return to Australia. When l made the decision to come back, l was convinced that the best place to be was the Perth Glory Football Club. The new coach and professional set up make it close to what l was experiencing overseas anyway." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999
Diegos: " We all know that Glory's East German coach, Bernd Stange is a real gentleman but even gentlemen get flustered under pressure and forget themselves. You spent some time in Germany playing for Arminia Bielefeld. Do you find yourself translating what Bernd's saying to the boys at times?" Milosevic: " At the start until Bernd got used to the language, l had to do a little translating but now Bernd is getting more accustomed to addressing the boys there is no real need." Diegos: " Did you find yourself trying to translate any of Bernd's German swear words?" Milosevic: " The amazing thing is that Bernd doesn't ever swear. He is such a nice guy l don't think he has ever let a foul word leave his mouth." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999
Diegos: " Perth Glory fans are legendary throughout Australia. Do you find you have a good relationship with the Glory throng and how important is their continued support to Glory's success?" Milosevic: " I think if you're performing and everything is going well as it is at present, l think everyone goes home feeling pretty happy. The fans are wonderful and if we can keep winning, we may be able to give them something to really cheer about when the finals come around." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999 |
