Some Golden Soft Sombrero Moments with Zeljko Susa Susa on his trial in Spain… Diegos: " You went through an uncertain pre-season when you were a target of Spanish club, Alves advances. It seemed the impasse that developed between the Knights and the Spanish club hamstrung the move. Why did the deal fall through and is your ambition to play overseas still strong?" Susa: " Absolutely the reason I play the game is so that one day I might play in a top European Club, hopefully in Spain. I was a little disappointed the club didn't let me go. In the end it came down to the money. I'm still very optimistic about my chances of playing in Spain; I think the club is still interested." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999
Diegos: " Your former teammate, Joe Didulica after some trouble, gained his wish for an overseas move earlier this year, joining crack Dutch club, Ajax Amsterdam. How does it make you feel when you know that Joe is playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, feasting on a diet of funny tasting cookies and enjoying the dodgy Amsterdam nightlife, whilst your still waiting for your chance?" Susa: " It pretty hard to swallow when you read stories of Joe buying cars for his uncle, and here I am driving around Somers Street in my Datsun 120Y. I'm really happy for Joe, and who knows it might be me buying the cars soon." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999
Diegos: " The Knights have come out talking big name recruits. You may soon be sharing a post-game bubble bath with legends the likes of Jurgen Klinsmann, Jean Pierre Papin, Lothar Matthaeus and Peter Beardsley. How do you feel about the prospect of playing with these all time world greats?" Susa: "I think that it's fantastic, earlier this year we trained with the Olyroos and that was a great experience. So having players of this caliber playing or training would be great. We just heard recently that your friend Diego Maradona might be coming down under." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999
Diegos: " This season the club has adopted the green and white-hooped Celtic kit as their away strip. Also present on the outer hill at Knight's stadium during home games, is a bunch of Bovril swilling, haggis munching Celtic supporters who sing everything from 'The Proclaimers' to 'Rod Stewart' covers during the game. How have you found the Knight's new clientele and can the Scottish theme take off down at the Knights?" Susa: " I believe it will be a great success, when you put this new group of supporters with our regulars they sure do make a bit of noise. The club can only benefit from such an innovative yet simple idea." Soft Sombrero Moment 1999 |
